Hi! I’m Sophie and I’m the dramaturg and finance director at 'Scrub Up The Misery.'

I have worked as dramaturg for 2 previous productions and I wanted to continue to develop my understanding of this practice. And I want to educate others about this element of theatre that not many people might be aware of.

I have been involved with theatre since a young age being in school and local plays and musicals. When I was in my teens I started to take more of a production role with those performances and even started to fundraise for those events. Whilst doing work with my youth theatre company I was also in the scouts where I also organised fundraising events for local charities.

​

One of my favourite theatre pieces of all time is Piaf by Pam Gems, a biographical play about the scandalous life of French singer Edith Piaf. The comedic dialogue paired with Piafs rousing emotional music evoked something deep inside me that I haven’t been able to forget to this day.
